About DOC’s Guitar Shop

DOC's opened its doors in early 2024 with one goal in mind. To make your guitar play, sound, and look the way you want it to.

With over 40 years experience, we finally decided to step out from the standard music store repair shop to open a dedicated shop that caters to fixing and restoring stringed instruments.

At DOC’s you won’t find any pressure to buy a new guitar instead of fixing your old one, you won’t be upsold on unnecessary accessories, and you will always be given all the information you need to make a decision. We carry a small selection of the necessary accessories, but at the end of the day our focus will always be the repair of your guitar.

Darcy “DOC” Clarke has been repairing and restoring guitars for over 40 years, both professionally and as a main hobby. After taking a few years away from the bench to work in big corporate healthcare, the pull of getting back to his passion was too great and he opened DOC's Guitar Shop in early 2024.

DOC’s partners with Cascadia Woodcraft & Lutherie Supply and shares space at 2267 Cousins Ave in Courtenay, BC. This partnership not only allows DOC’s to work with Cascadia in supply of specialty tonewoods & woodworking tools, but also brings a second luthier to the table. Caleb Pennington is a fully trained luthier with experience building acoustic and electric instruments, and is available to step in and lend a hand when the shop gets a bit backed up. Caleb also brings an extensive knowledge of tonewoods to the table and is our go to person for all questions tonewood related.

Come on by and check us out, we would love to talk guitar repair with you!
